The Buddle Inn

Just past St Catherine's Lighthouse, the Buddle is an old smuggler's inn. They have a large, separate building for families and it overlooks the bay. Food here is cooked to order, but is of a good standard.

The Wight Mouse

On the corner and overlooking the bay at Chale, the Wight Mouse is superb for children and they serve good food. They have an indoor and outdoor play area, massive garden and large indoor dining area. On a clear day the views are fantastic.

The Spyglass

On the beach at Ventnor, the Spyglass offers pub meals . There are no facilities for children, although they are welcome, and the location is pleasant as it is right on the beach. They have live music and serve local ales.

The Mill Bay Inn

At the other side of Ventnor bay, the Mill Bay has a bar area and a conservatory for families, which is opposite the beach. They serve generally OK food however the salads and baguettes are extremely good.

The Griffin

Reported to be one of the top 10 best family pubs in the country. It has a family room at the back and a maze within the large garden.

The Bugle Inn

Serves good pub food, reasonably priced. Indoor and outdoor kids play areas, pool table and nice kids meals.

The Sun Inn

Located off the beaten track at Hulverstone, the Sun Inn has a pretty rose garden and indoor restaurant. Serves very good food.

The Chequers Inn

An award winning pub with lovely views and nice walks. Large children's play area and good food.

The Met Wine Bar

Tapas bar on Ventnor sea front. Children are welcome until 6pm. A very pleasant, relaxing meal with nice wines and coffees, excellent food and a lovely view.

The Pond Cafe

Beautiful little restaurant located right next to the pond in Bonchurch. Open for lunch and evening meals. Excellent food and good wine. Not a cheap night out, but worth every penny.

The Hamborough Hotel and Restaurant

Sister restaurant to the Pond Cafe, but considerably larger and serves beautiful, 5 course meals. Again, not cheap, but fantastic. Not really recommended for children.

The Boathouse, Steephill Cove

This is probably one of the island's best kept secrets, but it's tiny, so if you want to wowed with the freshest seafood ever, then book as soon as you arrive at the cottage. The family catch the fish locally in the morning and cook it up for lunch. Open lunchtimes only from end of May to beginning of September. If you can get a table, you have to try it!
